Common myths
The Truth:
Kennedy wants to hold processed food makers to account by encouraging, and in some cases mandating the substitution of toxic artificial preservatives and flavors with healthier alternatives that taste the same. This would bring US food standards in-line with those of other developed countries including Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan and the EU.
The Truth:
Kennedy has criticized the over-prescription of antidepressants for multiple reasons. He has pointed out verifiable statistics about the high number of mass shooters who took these drugs prior to commencing their criminal acts. He has further pointed out that compared to other developed countries, including those with a large number of legally owned firearms among the civilian population, the US has an exponentially higher number of people (especially young people) on antidepressants.
The Truth:
Kennedy’s plan is the only realistic solution to the country’s ballooning medical bills. By shifting the focus of preventative care from a pharmaceutical approach to a lifestyle and nutritional approach, Americans will spend less on preventative treatment and slash the rate of chronic disease. This will have the effect of lowering private insurance costs as well as reducing Medicare/Medicaid costs.
The Truth:
Kennedy’s position is that vaccines must be thoroughly tested before being released to the general public. Kennedy believes vaccine makers and public health agencies must publish clear warnings about all potential short and long term side effects from vaccines, many of which have been the subject of past litigation. Vaccine companies and public officials typically know of many of these dangers, but often conceal them due to the cozy relationship between the government and pharmaceutical companies that Kennedy calls “corporate capture”. Kennedy is not opposed to vaccines in theory, he wants all vaccines in the United States to be safe for children, adults and seniors.
The Truth:
Kennedy wants to prohibit vaccine mandates and restore the principle of informed patient consent. Regarding childhood vaccines, Kennedy would restore a trusting relationship between parents and physicians who can make decisions based on honest individual assessments that may be guided by studies from public health agencies. These studies must be free from corrupting corporate influence and should not include blanket recommendations that fail to account for the needs of an individual child.
The Truth:
Kennedy has long campaigned against the disproportionately high levels of unhealthy food available in the poor inner-cities. Kennedy believes that SNAP should not be used to buy unhealthy junk foods, but should help families to buy healthy foods with government assistance - the same foods that many well-off people buy on a daily basis. Kennedy has also encouraged the government to help fund urban farms and gardens that provide healthy and locally sourced foods. This also has a positive effect on building strong communities in historically underserved parts of the country.
The Truth:
Response: Kennedy highlighted that according to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), within an eight month period, more deaths were reported following the administration of a Covid-19 vaccine than any other vaccine over the last 30 years. Kennedy considers this one of many starting points for what should be large scale investigations, rather than the definitive statement regarding the vaccines’ risks. Kennedy has criticized the rushed development and deployment of Covid vaccines. This prevented long term studies conducted before the vaccines were administered (sometimes via mandate) to the general public, including millions of children.
The Truth:
Former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield has praised Kennedy’s approach to the country’s chronic disease epidemic. In relation to the Covid crisis, Dr. Redfield said that Kennedy “got everything right” while the CDC and other public health agencies were frequently wrong in their approach to Covid. Many other medical doctors including mRNA technology developer Dr. Robert Malone and Stanford Professor, Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, have been highly supportive of Kennedy’s proposed reforms to public health agencies.
The Truth:
In its final report, the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic concluded that it is very likely that the virus came from the biolab in Wuhan, China.
The Truth:
Kennedy has criticized the financially interdependent nature of public health agencies and the pharmaceutical industry. Kennedy has said that this creates incentives for public health officials to make recommendations that favor the financial goals of pharmaceutical companies, even when this puts the public at risk. On multiple occasions, Kennedy has praised the diligence, public service and patriotism of employees of public health agencies, many of whom have blown the whistle on high level corruption.
The Truth:
Ozempic is made by Denmark’s largest company by market cap, Novo Nordisk. Kennedy pointed out that Denmark’s public health bodies recommend that obesity should be treated with diet and exercise - not Ozempic.. Kennedy pointed out that treating America’s obesity crisis with subsidized Ozemic and similar drugs would cost taxpayers $3 trillion per year. Kennedy suggested that the government could cut the costs of obesity treatment by more than half if instead of subsidizing a non-US pharmaceutical giant, the government helped subsidize gym memberships for the economically disadvantaged while also providing healthy foods to Americans living in urban “food deserts”.
The Truth:
Kennedy pointed to verifiable scientific research that concluded high levels of the herbicide Atrazine in water supplies can lead to male frogs developing female sex organs. Kennedy has also pointed to studies indicating that Atrazine in the water supply can negatively impact the balance of sex hormones in teens. This can often result in the early onset of puberty.
The Truth:
While Kennedy does not wish to ban vaccines, many respected medical doctors and researchers have challenged the narrative that vaccines are the only cause of a decline in communicable diseases in the 20th century. They have pointed out that improvements in public sanitation, housing conditions for the urban poor, personal hygiene and nutrition, have led to the decline in the spread of communicable diseases in developed countries. While developing countries have historically high access to vaccines, many diseases eradicated in the developed world continue to cause public health crises because of unresolved issues in hygiene and sanitation.
The Truth:
Kennedy has said that further research into the potential dangers of radiofrequency radiation (RF radiation) from 5G transmitters and receivers must be studied before 5G products can be deemed fully safe for public use. Kennedy has pointed out that in recording its findings on 5G safety, the FCC has relied on guidelines from the 1990s which predates the general proliferation of 5G technology by around 20 years.
The Truth:
Kennedy’s advocacy does not include calls for bans on pasteurized milk. Kennedy is pro-consumer choice and pro-consumer information. Many nutritionists throughout the world advocate for the drinking of raw milk. Raw milk is already legal in many states, including California, not a place known for lax regulations. Kennedy’s advocacy for raw milk would help small family farms to access more markets where there is a market for their products.
The Truth:
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reportedly had a parasitic worm in his brain over a decade ago, a story that recently resurfaced in the New York Times. The incident, which occurred during a stressful period in 2010 and may have caused memory issues, was initially misdiagnosed as a brain tumor. While media outlets sensationalized the story, Kennedy and his campaign clarified that the issue was resolved long ago, and he is currently in good health. Kennedy has since used the story to highlight the prevalence of parasitic infections and to challenge his opponents to a debate, emphasizing his cognitive fitness. The incident raised questions about media ethics, given the information came from a leaked divorce deposition, and it ultimately allowed Kennedy to showcase his sense of humor and call attention to his cognitive health relative to other candidates.
The Truth:
Kennedy never ate a dog. Legacy media falsely accused him of eating a dog when an old photo of him with a BBQ goat resurfaced. The photo, taken in Patagonia, reflects the fact that in much of the world, goat is a delicacy. For instance, Caribbean style curried goat is available at many restaurants in the United States.
The Truth:
Kennedy found a dead bear on the side of the road and sought to refrigerate the carcass so that it could be consumed at a later date. New York state’s laws regarding the consumption of roadkill allow this. Americans across the country consume roadkill (e.g. deer) and most Americans eat meat: what’s the difference between eating dead bear and dead cow? Because Kennedy was not able to refrigerate the carcass in a timely manner, he left it in Central Park as a lighthearted prank against his friends he had been spending time with. No animals or humans were harmed in a prank that resembles something far more innocent than most pranks conducted by popular streamers.
The Truth:
NOAA spokesperson Katherine Silverstein confirmed that the agency's Office of Law Enforcement has closed the case: “The office determined the allegation to be unfounded and closed its investigation on Wednesday, Oct. 16," she said. Beached whales cost municipal governments upwards of $100,00 per dead marine mammal. As a conservationist, Kennedy has long interacted with live animals and studied the remains of animals that have died of natural causes. Kennedy took the remains of a dead whale to his home so that he could study the specimen at no cost to the taxpayer..
The Truth:
Millions of Americans have felt the pain of grocery price inflation under the Biden/Harris administration. While President Trump works to bring inflation down, Kennedy will work to further reduce the costs of feeding your family by cutting costly regulations. Kennedy’s reforms will allow the sale of locally grown foods to local supermarkets and food delivery companies in a traditional free market environment. Kennedy’s championing of regenerative agriculture also helps to bring healthy food to the public on a mass scale, without resorting to toxic farming practices that result in unhealthy meats and vegetables as well as a degraded environment.
The Truth:
This is as much a public health issue as it is about individual choice/consumer information. Fluoride is a known toxin that can lead to bone and joint deformities (Skeletal Fluorosis) as well as the discoloration and deterioration of teeth (Dental Fluorosis). While some studies indicate that at low levels.fluoride can help maintain teeth, other studies have shown that injecting fluoride is associated with long term neurological problems. There are also many organic alternatives that can be used to safely maintain healthy teeth.
The Truth:
Following the tragic assassination of his father, Kennedy gradually drifted into the world of highly addictive drugs, notably heroin. After struggling with addiction, he successfully got sober. Millions of American families face similar issues today. Kennedy’s openness about the addiction of his youth has helped him to share stories of healing and recovery with others facing these issues. Kennedy has often spoken about how drug rehabilitation is a key element of solving the homeless crisis that continues to grow in most cities.
The Truth:
There have been many well documented safety incidents regarding the Salk Inactivated polio vaccine (IPV). This includes incidents where tainted vaccines ended up causing polio in children ostensibly being inoculated against it. A major NIH scientist also discovered the potential of individuals developing cancer as a result of the polio vaccine due to the presence of the SV40 virus in batches of polio vaccines. Others, including mRNA vaccine technology co-inventor Dr. Robert Malone, have said that with the benefit of contemporary research, improved hygiene and sanitation is the major reason that communicable diseases have become less prevalent over the last century in developed countries.
The Truth:
Samoa suspended its measles vaccination program before Kennedy went on a good will/fact finding mission that did not confer any policy making power to the civilian Kennedy. Samoa’s decision was in response to the death of several babies due to improperly administered vaccines. Nearby Tonga and Fiji had a similar measles outbreak at the same time as Samoa. The vaccination rate in Tonga and Fiji was around 99%.
The Truth:
NIH and CDC statistics demonstrate that the overall rate of chronic disease has increased significantly since the 1960s. This includes, but is not limited to diabetes, obesity, cancer, stroke and heart disease.
The Truth:
Kennedy has criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci’s promotion of a now wholly discredited drug called AZT (azidothymidine) during the 1980s. Kennedy accused Fauci of seeking to personally profit from a drug that worsened the conditions of those infected with HIV, causing them to rapidly develop AIDS, a disease which had an extremely high mortality rate in the 1980s and early 1990s.
The Truth:
Medical experts have determined that 90% of HPV infections clear completely without intervention. A clinical trial of the leading HPV vaccine did not indicate that it prevents cancer, although this is how the vaccine has been marketed. Several international studies have found that since the introduction of the HPV vaccine, cervical cancer rates have either remained stable or in some cases, have increased.
The Truth:
In a long digital town hall meeting, Kennedy said that public health agencies should reprioritize from investments and development of drugs aimed at treating infections diseases, to an approach that prioritizes the root cause of and solutions to the growing chronic disease crisis. Chronic disease impacts 60% of Americans and accounts for 90% of the $4.5 trillion annual health care costs. This is the biggest health issue in the country in terms of size, mortality and fiscal cost.
The Truth:
Kennedy sought to repeal the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) status that was given to several Covid vaccines. EUA allows regulators and pharmaceutical companies to bypass rigorous clinical trials that are required before any new medicine is approved for general use. Companies that develop and manufacture medicines approved under EUA are typically given an extensive liability shield under the PREP Act.
The Truth:
The scientist Willy Burgdorfer, who discovered the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, which causes Lyme disease, suggested that his secret experiments with ticks and pathogens led to the development of Lyme Disease. Burgdorfer's statement was first published by author Kris Newby. Kennedy has cited Newby's writing to emphasize the need for transparency and improved safety standards in all pathogenic research. As a result of Newby's publication, Congressman Chris Smith proposed a legislative amendment, ordering the Department of Defense to investigate any potential link between Lyme disease and military bioweapons.
The Truth:
Kennedy has acted as an attorney working for plaintiffs who have alleged that their serious injuries were the result of negligence by major pharmaceutical and agricultural corporations. As is the case in virtually all litigation, he and other lawyers who worked on these cases are entitled to attorneys' fees. Kennedy has also done a great deal of pro bono (free) legal advocacy.
The Truth:
Dr. Anthony Facui, the one-time proponent of social distancing and mask mandates, subsequently admitted that social distancing had no basis in science and that masking was ineffective.
The Truth:
Kennedy resigned from all leadership positions at the CHD in 2024 and is no longer involved in the organization that he founded.
The Truth:
Kennedy is fully committed to improving Medicaid and has never said he advocates cutting Medicaid coverage for anyone currently covered by the program.
The Truth:
Between the 1960s and the present day, chronic disease has gone from impacting 3% of the population to 60% of the population. Kennedy has cited lower chronic disease rates in Japan, a highly developed country with an older population than the U.S. The difference he has highlighted is that Japan, much like Canada and the EU, does not use highly toxic dyes and chemicals in ultra-processed foods. Kennedy has cited numerous studies indicating that poor nutrition, as a result of toxicity in processed foods, is the primary cause of America's chronic disease epidemic.
The Truth:
Kennedy cited an FDA report which documented conflicts of interest among individuals working at public health agencies. The report cited the fact that FDA and CDC advisory committee members and chairpersons own stock in vaccine companies. Kennedy highlighted that some held public health agencies in such high esteem that they were willfully blind to well-documented instances of conflicts of interest. Kennedy never compared public health agencies to the Nazis, although he has characterized mandated shutdowns of society during Covid as a tactic that would have been familiar to totalitarian governments of the 20th century.
The Truth:
Kennedy has pointed to fiscal waste on studies that do not produce results that meet basic standards of scientific efficacy. Kennedy has said he wants to restore the CDC and other agencies to a position that he described as the "gold standard of science." He said that this can be achieved by transforming these agencies from an "old boys' club" to transparent organizations that share high-level scientific inquiry with the public.
The Truth:
The phrase "disinformation dozen" was coined by the non-US group "Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH)." This group's primary preoccupation is the censorship of Constitutionally protected speech as defined by the First Amendment. According to CCDH meeting notes that were seen by journalists Matt Taibbi and Paul D. Thacker, the group planned a "black ops" campaign directed against Kennedy. The group has been criticized by constitutionalists, free speech activists, as well as those who have exposed its funding by foreign governments.
The Truth:
Pence and his family have received campaign donations from LillyPAC, the political action committee associated with the world's largest pharmacal company, Eli Lilly. Lilly is based in Indiana where Pence previously served as Governor. The Pence fronted 501(c)(4) Advancing American Freedom (AAF) has spent over $250,000 on negative ads aimed at Kennedy. Major pharmaceutical shareholders and former executives also serve as executives at AAF.
The Truth:
Infectious diseases cost around 5.5% of the GDP annually, while chronic diseases cost around 20% of the GDP annually. For instance, in the 1950s, prior to the introduction of a vaccine, 542,000 cases of measles were reported annually. By contrast, today, 29.5 million American adults have some form of heart disease - the leading cause of death in the US.
The Truth:
Kennedy explicitly stated that all decisions he will make at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will be based on objective science that adheres to the standard of peer-reviewed studies. He has said he has no preconceived conclusions about any medical product, but instead makes and revises any positions based on the most recent scientific data.
The Truth:
In its own literature, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) concedes that its passive reporting system leads to the underreporting of vaccine injuries. This position is shared by RFK Jr., who has promised to improve the collection of such data.
The Truth:
RFK Jr. explained that his father, Senator Kennedy, told him that people in positions of power do not always tell the truth. He continued to explain that dishonest and factually inaccurate statements made by public health bodies that are part of HHS have contributed to a widespread loss of trust in all governmental bodies. Because of this, RFK Jr. favors an open and transparent approach to providing the public with truthful information about all major events, including national tragedies.
The Truth:
Kennedy has not profited from this lawsuit and will not accept any compensation in relation to the lawsuit.
The Truth:
Kennedy has said that the diagnostics used in Africa for AIDS patients are different from those used in the US. He has not drawn definitive conclusions on the matter, but has said that much more thorough research must be conducted in order to uniformly help those suffering from AIDS in Africa, the US, and elsewhere.
The Truth:
Kennedy has said that GLP drugs can be helpful for many diabetics and morbidly obese adults, but cautioned against giving these drugs to overweight children due to negative side effects and financial cost. He warned that GLP drugs weaken muscle mass, which is why prescribing overweight Americans with an exercise and nutrition regimen that has no side effects can be both beneficial and cost-effective. Kennedy added that even those on GLP drugs should combine this treatment with exercise and an improved diet.
The Truth:
Kennedy has pledged to move offshore drug manufacturing to the US. He has cited quality control, safety, national security, and retail availability of drugs during times of global disruption as justifications for this policy.
The Truth:
Kennedy has referenced a study by Dr. Gregory Poland, a respected vaccinologist at the Mayo Clinic, who found that different ethnic and racial groups have different immune responses to the same dosages of the same vaccines. In keeping with Kennedy's championing of healthcare that is tailored to the individual, he has cited Dr. Poland's study. Kennedy has spoken out against a one-size-fits-all approach to healthcare on the basis of personal medical history and all biological characteristics that impact this.
The Truth:
Kennedy has cited the peer-reviewed study by epidemiologist Anthony R. Mawson, which found that neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) were higher among vaccinated children. Cross-sectional and retrospective cohort analyses were used to evaluate the association between vaccination and NDDs. Kennedy has not drawn any conclusion on the matter but has said that further studies need to be conducted to offer further scientific clarity to parents.
The Truth:
Governors and state officials who vocally oppose RFK Jr.'s nomination are part of the same big money system that is prevalent in D.C. politics. In the 2024 election cycle, the 314 Action Fund (a Political Action Committee) spent a total of $13.7 million. One of RFK Jr.'s most vocal critics, Hawaii Governor Josh Green is listed by 314 as one of candidates for whom it actively solicits donations.
The Truth:
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has made multiple donations to Senator Cantwell for decades.
